1. Who we are
AthletIQ, LLC (“AthletIQ,” “we,” “us”) provides AthletIQ Basketball, a mobile app that turns real basketball shots into game and season experiences. We are responsible for the personal information described in this policy.
This policy covers the AthletIQ Basketball app, its connected account and gameplay services, and the privacy and support website at athletiq.cc. Services you visit through external links, including payment and sign-in providers, also have their own privacy notices.
For privacy questions or requests, email hello@athletiq.io.
2. Information we collect
Account and player profile
We collect the information you provide during sign-up, sign-in, profile setup, and account updates. This can include your email, name, player name, profile photo, date of birth, gender, preferred hand, jersey number, team, position, difficulty, referral code, and consent choices. Sign-in providers give us account identifiers and the profile information you authorize them to share, such as your name, email, or profile image. Apple may provide a private relay email address.
Gameplay and performance
We store skill assessments, shot attempts and outcomes, manual make/miss entries, scores, game and session identifiers, game duration, schedules, season and playoff results, ratings, achievements, streaks, and performance analytics. We also collect reports when a shot is missed or incorrectly detected.
Camera content and uploaded media
We process camera frames and video used for shot detection, and photos or recordings you choose to provide. Footage can include your appearance, movements, surroundings, and other people within the camera’s view. See Camera & recording.
Device, usage, and diagnostic information
The app and its service providers collect device model, operating system, app version, network and connection information, IP address, timestamps, screen visits, interactions, errors, crash reports, and app performance. Diagnostics can include session replays showing app screens and interactions, along with technical logs and network metadata. Records may be associated with your account or a device or session identifier. IP addresses may indicate an approximate location.
Parents, payments, and support
For parental consent, we collect a parent or guardian’s name and email, the player’s account information, and verification, consent, and revocation records. For purchases, we receive customer and transaction identifiers, subscription status, and entitlement information from the payment provider. Card entry is handled by the payment provider. If you contact us, we receive your message, contact details, and any attachments you send.
3. Camera & recording
The app requests camera access to show a preview and analyze basketball activity. When automatic detection is active, camera frames are transmitted to our connected processing service to locate the rim, track activity, and determine shot outcomes. Processing is not limited to your phone.
Video, frame data, shot labels, and session information may be stored to investigate detection problems and improve shot detection and performance analytics. Stored footage is not intended as a permanent video archive. You can request deletion of identifiable footage as described below.
We use the system photo picker or camera when you choose a profile image. The current gameplay audio session plays prompts and commentary; microphone-based make/miss input is not part of that flow.
Avoid pointing the camera at people who have not agreed to be recorded. Stop the session before moving your phone to a private setting.
4. How we use information
- Create and authenticate accounts, save profiles, and provide requested services.
- Run assessments, shot detection, scoring, games, seasons, ratings, achievements, and progress analytics.
- Verify age and parental consent, record permissions, and respond to privacy requests.
- Process subscription status and provide access to purchased services.
- Diagnose crashes, connection failures, and inaccurate shot results; improve reliability and detection accuracy.
- Respond to support requests, send account and service notices, prevent abuse, and meet legal obligations.
We use app diagnostics to understand and improve the service. We do not use gameplay footage to target advertisements to you. If we seek to use your information for a materially different purpose, we will provide notice and obtain consent where required.
6. Children & parents
We ask for date of birth to determine age eligibility and the applicable consent flow. A player identified as under 13 must complete parental consent before accessing gameplay that requires it. Initial sign-up and consent information is used to establish the account, contact a parent, and record the parent’s decision.
The parent or guardian receives an email to verify consent and a follow-up notice with a revocation link. The child’s account can involve the profile, gameplay, camera, and diagnostic information described above. Providers listed in this policy support essential operations such as authentication, hosting, processing, email delivery, and troubleshooting.
Parents may review their child’s information, request correction or deletion, or withdraw consent by contacting hello@athletiq.io. They can also use the consent email’s revocation link to disable consent-dependent gameplay. Withdrawing consent does not automatically erase existing records; request deletion as well if that is your preference.
We do not use a child’s gameplay footage for targeted advertising. If you believe a child’s information was collected without the required consent, contact us so we can investigate and remove it as appropriate.
7. Retention & deletion
We retain personal information only for as long as needed for the purposes described in this policy. The period depends on the type of information, your account status, the service being provided, and legal or security requirements.
- Account and gameplay records: retained to maintain your account, season history, and progress while you use the service, unless you request deletion.
- Camera footage and detection records: retained as needed for processing, investigating reported problems, and improving shot detection. Retention varies by recording and processing workflow; we do not promise that every uploaded frame disappears immediately after a shot.
- Diagnostics and support records: retained while needed to resolve issues, maintain security, and understand reliability.
- Consent, transaction, and legal records: may be retained where needed to document consent, meet accounting or legal duties, prevent fraud, or resolve disputes.
The in-app Delete Account action removes your authentication account and associated account and gameplay records from the application database. Related footage, provider logs, backups, or records subject to legal retention may require separate handling. Email us to request deletion across those systems. We will explain any information that must be retained and the reason, where permitted.
Deleted information may remain in protected backups until those backups are replaced or expire. Information that has been irreversibly de-identified may be retained for aggregate analysis.
8. Your choices & rights
- Update your profile: use the account and profile controls in the app.
- Change permissions: manage camera and photo access through your device settings.
- Withdraw consent: contact us about data-processing consent; parents can also use their consent revocation link. Stop using the affected feature while the request is handled.
- Delete your account: open Settings → Delete Account and confirm. If you cannot sign in, or want deletion of additional records, contact us.
- Request access or correction: email us to request a copy of, correction to, or deletion of personal information associated with your account.
Depending on where you live, you may also have rights to data portability, to object to or restrict processing, to withdraw consent, to appeal a privacy decision, or to complain to a privacy regulator. We will handle requests under the law that applies to you. Exercising an applicable privacy right will not result in unlawful discrimination.
Send requests to hello@athletiq.io, preferably from the email associated with your account. Describe the request without sending passwords or verification codes. We may ask for proportionate information to verify your identity or your authority to act for a child. Deleting an account does not itself cancel subscriptions billed by an external provider.
9. Security & international use
We use measures such as encrypted connections, authenticated access, and access controls to protect information. The app also filters sensitive authentication details from diagnostic records. No system can guarantee absolute security.
AthletIQ and its service providers may process information in the United States and other countries where they operate. Privacy laws may differ from those in your location. Where legally required, we use appropriate safeguards for international transfers.
10. This website
The athletiq.cc privacy and support pages are available without an account. They do not include advertising pixels, session replay, analytics scripts, or contact forms. Fonts and images are hosted with the site, so reading a page does not require a request to a third-party font service.
Cloudflare processes ordinary connection data, such as IP address, requested URL, browser information, and security signals, to deliver and protect the website. Security features may use necessary cookies or similar technologies. Email links open your own email application. Following a link to athletiq.io or another site takes you to a separate website that may use different cookies and services.
11. Changes & contact
We may update this policy as the service or our practices change. We will update the date above and provide additional notice or request consent when required. The current policy is always available at athletiq.cc/privacy.
